These paintings portray a vision of the world, and our only momentary presence within it.
Each portrait is painted from black and white photographs of my grandmothers as a method of sacral art which uses symbols and motifs to achieve a spiritual image. This work involves ritual practices and operative aspects of visualization, to relate the image of the deceased to our ecological crisis using death as a symbol. In my work I explore my personal relationship to my grandmothers as well as my relationship to nature, creating a vision of our future in which we are all the flesh of the world.
